"I was honored to have a great Biology teacher, Dr. Armando Tolliver. This guy is definitely a miracle worker. He sets the tone and pace of the class through his homelike classroom design with a student café and his unique interior. Not one teacher I have ever had or observed has ever done that! No other teacher, you know, will decorate their entire class just to set up a setting and tone for us students to be able to learn in a setting that resembles everyday learning environments where people engage (e.g. restaurants, coffee shops, the park, etc.), none of them.
Walking into his class, you immediately notice that the vibe is definitely different from the rest of the school along with the lessons. His comparisons to real-life factors that affect us students make it so much easier to understand and comprehend. We are not being lectured to, instead we are having a conversation. This opens up the floor for students who do not normally participate.

In my position, as the Assistant Principal, I had the opportunity to observe Dr. Tolliver. In the classroom, it is clear that he has a passion for teaching and a commitment to the students in his charge. In a previous year, Dr. Tolliver’s continued growth as an educator was demonstrated daily through his commitment to the Promise Academy Way. As a colleague, he works well with fellow colleagues by participating in instructional dialogues that are centered on student mastery and ways to incorporate instructional strategies. As a teacher, he has mastered an effective strategic plan to support and differentiate instruction in multiple classrooms. He is truly a team player and was an asset to my former school. As an Administrative Intern, Dr. Tolliver supported our teachers by providing a clear vision and mission that supported the school's initiatives and validated the Promise Academy mandates.
Again, I believe Dr. Tolliver would be a wonderful addition to any organization simply because of his willingness to perfect his craft, his flexibility to face educational challenges with a determination to overcome obstacles and his strong commitment to give every child the hope that learning is truly the passport to achieving dreams. He is a true visionary that has the uncanny ability to see a problem from all angles. He works to not only see the problem but he can develop initiatives to solve issues with the strong ability to follow through."
